England Team Qualifying
All English Players We have 14 players registered and need to get down to 5. I have devised a perfectly fair system of knock-out rounds whereby the initial matches are based upon when a player registered, i.e. the first to register plays the last. I feel that this is the fairest way of allocating matches. The winners then progress to a final round and the losers go into play-offs. It sounds complicated but really isnt. The other option is to just play 1 match with the 7 winners being the core of the team and there then just being 1 additional pick. The only downside to this is that there may be 2 very good players drawn against each other, which having a 'lucky loser' spot would eliminate this. Please let me know ideas and I will happily facilitate the play-offs. The Captains etc would then be selected from amongst the qualifying players.

I think that we should have a vote for captaincy, people from england please post what you think about this proposal. What you propose is ok madpierre, but Its gotten to quite a late stage now and we need to get this moving quickly so we can start practicing.

Using what madpie has said why do we not just allocate each player some1 to fight?? also do we have only 1 shot at getting through or are we going to do the best of 3??. I think this would be better as an unlucky mistake or a bug in the game could cost the better player the match. Atleast best out of 3 gives them a second chance. Theres no point choosing captains untill we know who is in our team

I'm happy with whatever the majority decide. But we should move fast on however we choose to qualify, times a wasting.

Kitza I had done exactly the same as you only matching first to register with last to register. Am on holiday at the moment so cannot post the matches that I made but am happy to go with whatever the majority decide. My scheme gives the losers a 2nd chance to go through so it a fair system I am back from my hols on Friday.

OK Madpierre. Thanks. Guys look at my thread about team selection. If the majority agrees to this then we can start the matches ASAP.

To be honest Kitza, I think first v last is better than in order. As it stands we have 2 RTK playing a match and 2 SPID playing. Not too woried who I play but what is th plan for after this match or is this just to decide 7 of the 8 players?

Ok let me stop you there, first v last will not work and neither will Ktiza's selection process, for the simple fact that 2 of the strongets players may face each other and one might get knocked out - very bad for the team. This loser process would not rule it out as our 6 best may face each other resulting in 3 going through to the loser stage and only one being allowed to progress. 1v1s is not a -*test*-('") of team skill and it is therefore my opinion that we elect a captain who will therefore pick the team of 8, from this we can practice with each other and decide who will play as the 3. This will work because the captain will get to know the players and can make a decision on their teamplay, somebody maybe good a 1v1s but awful at team and also 1v1s can be fluked through mass and charge, teamplay requires more precice execution of skill and teamplay. From the players that have applied so far we can tell who the strongest players to play in the team are. USA are currently electing a captain, and I feel this will be much easier for england, as there are many clan tournaments running at the moment and arranging games ontop of them, with the limited time some players have to play, it will take too long- especially since there are 13 or 14 players who have applied for England. I am being brutally honest here because its looking as though nothing will get sorted out and that we will be left with a team that doesnt reflect truly what england has to offer.

Whatever is come up with must be agreed to by the participants... USA had only 9 players and it was rather easy to pick a team......... 8 team members and 1 alternate...The situation is very different here... There are many players wanting to participate and only 8 team spots... Whatever is agreed upon is fine, but at this point it looks like their are several who wish to play for the spots.... Well folks this is my suggestion. Matches to be played best of 3 As you can see there is an opportunity for losers to have a 2nd bite at teh cherry. Sorry Platavian, I do not agree with just selecting a Captain as that person will naturally pick their fellow clan members or friends. This tournament is supposed to give everyone a fair chance to play and just having a team picked will not do that. The idea of having 5 players selected by play-off and then a Captain being selected who has 3 personal picks means that everyone has a chance and should a good player not make it through then they can still be the Captains choice. Whatever happens we need to get a move on or we will not have a team before the tournament starts

OK guys I am saying my opinion not saying backing some one for being in there but We do need to play and madpierre idea is good and is ready to be used but platvian has the problems about friends. Whatever is decided it needs to be decided now.
